Bariatric Surgery

Before Bariatric Surgery

Many insurance companies require three to six months of medical weight management prior to granting approval for surgery. At Ideal Physician Weight Loss, we offer weight loss services for those who are preparing for surgery.

The Ideal Physician Weight Loss programs are medically supervised, which means that our program will often fulfill your insurance company’s requirements for documented medical weight loss efforts.

We also offer customized weight loss services for those patients with an extremely high BMI who need to lose weight prior to undergoing bariatric surgery.

Bariatric Surgery

Bariatric surgery is not for everyone, but we recognize that this is an appropriate weight loss tool for some patients who just cannot lose and maintain weight in any other way. Our Physicians are trained in the latest techniques in Bariatric Surgery including Laparoscopic Banding, Gastric Sleeve, Gastric Imbrication, Roux-en-Gastric Bypass and Duodenal Switch. There are a number of surgical options available including single port small incision. Your physician can discuss these options with you and make recommendations.

After Bariatric Surgery

If you are experiencing problems with weight control after bariatric surgery, we can help.

Sometimes Bariatric Surgery is not successful. Maybe you didn’t lose as much weight as you had initially expected, or perhaps you have gained some or all of it back after your operation. You don’t need to be embarrassed by this. Our Physicians at Ideal Physician Weight Loss are trained in both Bariatric Medicine and Surgery.  We know the pitfalls of surgery and will work diligently with you to get you back on track with your weight loss efforts. We will also work with you on transition and maintenance after the active weight loss phase to increase your chances of successfully keeping the weight off.

We offer bariatric lab monitoring and Lap Band adjustment services for those who had their surgery elsewhere, or are no longer following up with their own bariatric surgery department. We recognize the importance of monitoring your bariatric labs regularly in order to prevent vitamin deficiencies, and have expertise in correcting dangerous deficiencies that can occur over time. We are able to provide services to individuals that have undergone a number of bariatric procedures, including Lap Band, Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy or Duodenal Switch procedure.
