Does My Insurance Cover Medical Weight Loss Costs?
As a courtesy to our patients, we are happy to check your insurance to see if they accept insurance billing for medical weight loss costs. Most private insurers do not pay for medical weight loss.
If you have an HMO Plan they will not pay for medical weight loss.
If you have Medicare/Medicaid they will not pay for medical weight loss specifically.
Tricare will pay for medical weight loss programs with a referral and prior authorization.
If you have a Flexible Spending Account (FSA) or a Health Savings Account (HSA) you may obtain a receipt from our offices to be reimbursed for the medical wight loss costs of our services pre-tax from one of these accounts. This is possible provided your insurance FSA or HSA will reimburse for weight loss costs. You will need to check with your FSA or HSA account to find out if they will reimburse for Weight Loss Services. We are happy to provide you with a medically necessary letter for any insurance, FSA or HSA, that requires one.
What About Surgical Weight Loss Costs?
As a courtesy to our patients, we are happy to check your insurance to see if they accept insurance billing for Surgical Weight Loss costs. Most private insurers do pay for surgical weight loss. Each patient has specific benefits that may or may not include bariatrics in your insurance coverage.
BCBS “In – Network”
If we are “Out-Out-Network” we will honor your “In -Network-Benefits” for all other insurers. We will also apply payments made for Medical Weight Loss towards your eventual Surgical Weight Loss deductible and co-insurance.
